Additionally, different parts of the country, as well as different trainers all have their own ideas about the size and style of Personal Escape Rope to use. NFPA mandates that personal escape rope must be 7.5mm or larger. Blue Water

7.5mm Hybrid PER



A unique design originated by BlueWater, it features 50%TechnoraŽaramid and 50% fluorescent orange polyester sheath strands braided over anylon core. This offers three distinct advantages: higher visibility in low light or smokeyconditions, it is more economically priced than 100% aramid sheath constructions andthe polyester strands discolor with heat. Sheath strand discoloration provides anindication that the rope has been exposed to extreme temperatures and should beretired. Certified to NFPA 1983/2001 edition, Personal Escape Rope standards.

8.0mm Technora PER



8.0mm Technora PER Features a solid Technora aramid sheath over a stranded nyloncore. Technora has two distinct advantages over traditional aramid fibers: it has ahigher decomposition temperature (934° F) and it has better flex fatigue resistance sothere is less loss of strength over time. The rope has a nylon core to prevent flatteningout in descent devices. For those who prefer 100% aramid sheath PERs, this is theanswer. Certified to NFPA 1983/2001 edition, Personal Escape Rope standards.

The most economical of all our PER ropes. 100% polyester sheathover a 100% twisted nylon core. Certified to NFPA 1983/2001 edition, PersonalEscape Rope standards.

9mm PER Search Line



The Hoss! This rope is a full 9mm diameter for those who prefer larger ropes providing a better feel with gloved hands. 100% Technora aramid sheathover a nylon core for high strength and heat resistance. Certified to NFPA 1983/2001edition, Personal Escape Rope standards but also ideal for use as a search line. Thisrope has a whopping 3400 lbf. tensile strength!

PMI

 

PMI Personal Escape Rope


Firefighters and rescuers who need to "bail out" of deadly situations rely on PMI PER. Two models of PER are available, both UL listed to NFPA 1983-01. PER-1 is very compact (7.5mm) and weighs only 39g/m, but more than strong enough for the job. It also has an energy-absorbing core design to reduce the inevitable shock load of that initial leap.

Sterling

Sterling's Personal Escape Ropes are manufactured to yield a perfect balance of strength, abrasion resistance, and handling. Our precision twisting and braiding process on the sheaths and cores give the ropes a tough sheath and the needed elongation to help absorb impact force during a "bail out." The nylon PER offers the highest strength available in an 8mm diameter and has a great hand for packing into turnout gear or drop bags. Our RIT 500 gives added security with a Twaron™ sheath for heat and cut resistance.
